The paper explains a part of a larger research project, that has the purpose to define some preservation strategies, starting from the elaboration of guidelines for historical buildings owners. These guidelines could get people involved and guide them to monitor the preservation status of their goods and to recognize the first signs of decay phenomena, thus preventing damages and post factum restorations, that are more invasive than a continuous and preventive maintenance.
