Clim4Vitis is a project funded under the European Commission action H2020-WIDESPREAD-05-2017-Twinning. By promoting the strengthening of a specific Research Institution this project mainly focuses on climate change and its potential impacts on European viticulture sector. The climate change is already resulting in variations of crop phenology patterns, crop yield and quality changes of the most important grapevine varieties with strong consequences on socioeconomic aspects of the winemaking sector. In this context, crop simulation can be useful tools for predicting present and future performances under future climate change too. Under this light, CLIM4VITIS rationale rests on two paramount research lines: 1) grapevine modelling and 2) tools for assessing climate change impacts on the European viticulture, in general, and on the grapevine productivity, quality attributes and pest and disease risk, in particular. Clim4Vitis, based on an integrated approach, aims to transfer the acquire knowledge and technology between partners, stakeholders and decision-makers.
