Religious Factor and Legacy of the Past in the Russian Academic World. The Soviet Era and the Religious Renaissance · Following the Stalinist era, and well before the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian academic world began to display a strong interest in the religious phenomenon and in the Orthodox Christian tradition paving the way for the recomposition of the cultural canon of Russia in the post-Soviet era. This is testified by the scientific and publishing activities of important institutions, but also by personal initiatives or those of groups that more or less directly clashed with the regime.
