Abstract

Articolo a due nomi su Rivista in classe A The Italian Charter for the Restoration of Historic Gardens also includes archaeological sites among the different categories of historic gardens, proposing a remark on the design of archaeological parks, so highlighting the consolidated link between archaeological research and historic garden. Already systematically explored by Giacomo Boni's explorations in Roman archaeological sites, this complex interaction takes into account the various aspects of garden archaeology oriented towards restoration, reconstruction or reinterpretation of the historic garden. Developed in the English context, the garden archaeology has been applied in Pompeii in a systematic and rigourous way. Thanks to the innovative contributions of paleo-botany, palynology and dendrochronology, gardens, domestic and agricultural crops are re-proposed in the different Regiones. For this kind of interventions we can speak of in vivo reconstruction, restoration or reinterpretation, in a variety of categories that need to be investigated in the light of a contemporary look, including the inventive conservation imagined by Donadieu or the poetic archaeologies designed by Lassus.
