Tetrapod traces in the Dolomia Principale (Upper Triassic) of the Val Pegolera (Southern Alps)

An association of 11 dinosaurian footprints from the Dolomia Principale formation of the Monte Pasubio is described and figures. It has been found, preserved as convex hyporelief, on the roof of the 12th gallery of the “Strada delle Gallerie”, dug in 1917, during the First World War. The association is constituted by three main morphotypes and other scattered prints. The morphotype A together with some isolated footprints is assigned to sauropodomorpha trackmakers; morphotypes B and C to small and large theropods, respectively. This association, more than being the first record of dinosaurian footprints on the Prealpi Vicentine, is the first found in situ on the Dolomia Principale Fm. This allowed conodonts biostratigraphic investigation that confirmed the Norian age of the trampled layer, dealing with the ichnological data.
