Abstract: A new waterborne polyester-urethane-phosphorus resin was formulated using hydroxyl terminated polyesters, isophorone diisocyanate, dimethylol propionic acid, and dibutyl tinoxide as a catalyst with certain additives and polyphosphate diol. In the synthesis process, the release of volatile organic compound was reduced by replacing the organic solvent with water for industrial coil coatings resin. The structure of waterborne polyester-urethanes and waterborne polyester-urethane-phosphorus were specified by ATR-FTIR and 1H NMR analysis. The AFM was used for characterization of surface morphology of coated panels. The evaluation of coated substrates efficiency was done by various tests such as cross-cut adhesion, impact resistance, flexibility, pencil hardness, acid and base medium resistance. DSC was carried out for investigating the thermal behavior of synthesized coating. The UV stability of synthesized coated substrates was investigated, and the salt spray test was used for evaluation of corrosion resistance property of them. The synthesized coatings showed improved properties in mechanical durability as well as corrosion resistance respect to their linear counterpart.
