This paper describes the development and simulation of a circular polarized patch antenna for four-band operation in S- and C- band. The design of the antenna is based on the modal degeneration mechanism applied to a circular patch, which is perturbed by the means of the gap-coupling with parasitic reactive elements. In addition, the patch is also perturbed by etching four pair of slots. The combination of both the perturbation mechanisms results in a design capable of four frequency of operation, with a first pair of modes in the S-band, at 2.45 GHz and 2.75 GHz and two additional modes in the C-band, at 5.00 GHz and 5.20 GHz, respectively.

Abstract
