Abstract
The paper is aimed to present a proposed 'Revitalization Urban Strategy', developed at the University of Florence, including preservation and reuse of the industrial heritage and the creation of a well-coordinated 'Cultural Route' to strengthen the surrounding local communities to upgrade tourism and local economy. The 'Italian Metallurgical Society', was established by the end of the nineteenth century on the Pistoia Mountains. In 1902, Luigi Orlando contributed to Factory’s growth to respond to the war effort. Those years, the Italian authorities were looking for a new industrial company to entrust military equipment, arms, and munitions in a historic time of growing uncertainty in international politics. In 1912, the first company agglomeration was built to provide accommodation for workers. In 1937 work began on the excavation of anti-aircraft shelters to ensure the survival to up to 5.000 people, according to the Minister of War statement. The industry is closed in 2006.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
