This article focuses on the relation between lie and truth. The first part reconstructs from a Foucauldian perspective how Western society produced the category of homosexuality in relation with perversion, while the second shows how Wester conceptualization of male sexual relations invades Japan in the end of 19th century changing Japanese ethics of sexuality. The aim of the article is to reconstruct the background in which Mishima could conceptualize the notion of mask as a tool able to overstep the boundaries between lie and truth.
