The work consists in a new commented edition of the two extant testaments of Niccolo Machiavelli, dictated on 22 November 1511 and 27 November 1522, and surviving in notarial protocols (and parchment scrolls) housed in the State Archive of Florence. A close examination of these neglected sources sheds new light on several aspects of Machiavelli’s biography.
