Ultrastructural investigation of the hyphanthial epithelium of Selenicereus grandiflorus flower indicate the involvement of the tissue in the production of a lipidic material which accumulates in the vacuole. Other aspects (the numerous symplastic connections with the underlyng parenchyma, the utilization of the starch reserves, the high number of active dictyosomes, the subcuticular spaces) indicate the extrusion of hydrophilic substances. The tissue degenerates through a holocrine secretion.

Abstract
Ultrastructural investigation of the hyphanthial epithelium of Selenicereus grandiflorus flower indicate the involvement of the tissue in the production of a lipidic material which accumulates in the vacuole. Other aspects (the numerous symplastic connections with the underlyng parenchyma, the utilization of the starch reserves, the high number of active dictyosomes, the subcuticular spaces) indicate the extrusion of hydrophilic substances. The tissue degenerates through a holocrine secretion.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
