This paper presents a W-band Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar system able to acquire high resolution 3D images in just about 10 minutes. Resolution in both the horizontal plane and in elevation are obtained through mechanical scanning of the radar head along two orthogonal directions. In this paper, authors illustrate the system design and performances. The results of some experimental tests performed both in controlled and in urban scenario are shown.

Abstract

This paper presents a W-band Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar system able to acquire high resolution 3D images in just about 10 minutes. Resolution in both the horizontal plane and in elevation are obtained through mechanical scanning of the radar head along two orthogonal directions. In this paper, authors illustrate the system design and performances. The results of some experimental tests performed both in controlled and in urban scenario are shown.
