The paper offers a concise snapshot of the current condition of women's work, paying particular attention to the social norm of dual presence. It then traces the vicissitudes of family care work through Alessandra Pescarolo's reconstruction of the establishment of the male breadwinner model, and finally reflects on the current context from the perspective of the regulatory techniques adopted to protect and promote women's work, with specific regard to measures adopted to facilitate the reconciliation of work and family life.
