In the paper, a theoretical study and a numerical performance analysis of a novel Humidification-Dehumidification Desalination scheme are presented . The scheme employs some devices derived from cooling and refrigeration applications (indirect evaporative cooling and vapour compression refrigeration) to enhance salt water evaporation and fresh water recovery. The results of simulations lead to consider this scheme as a very competitive option in the field of HDH desalination.
