The Cyrillo-Methodian mission and the Letter of Patriarch Photius to the khan Boris. An attempt to reconstruct the Byzantine missionary strategy Тhe Letter of Photius to the khan Boris with his reflection on the profession of faith and Christian paideia, in the light of a comparison with the principal Cyrillо-Methodian sources, contains a pregnant and synthetic presentation of the foundations of Byzantine pastoral and missionary activity. If we consider the role of the patriarch and the authority of the writer, it must be recognized that this letter in its formulation represents a model and a milestone for understanding the methods of spreading Eastern Christianity at the end of the second iconoclasm when the Macedonian era of Byzantine Empire began.
