Fra conservazione e riuso: strumenti di valutazione per una progettazione critica

The essay is focused on interventions carried out in the Enna territory on wall surfaces and building elements made in stone. It emphasizes the need to create economic-project assessment tools customised as much as possible to the actual context in which they are used. The starting point is an overall picture of all possible decay processes for the various categories of stones (as described in the UNI 11822006 BC) and their causes. Yet, different interventions can be applied to the same degradation process, depending upon the vulnerability of the specific material used (due to physico-chemical and mineralogical properties) and its damages. The essay focuses on the most widespread interventions in the province of Enna. For these, price analysis tables were prepared, in which, besides the comprehensive description of the interventions, bare costs (labor, materials, freight and transport) were specified. Such interventions thus become assessable and applicable not only in restoration activities but also in operations of reuse and regeneration of towns in the spirit of the Disegno di legge n.2039 approved on May 12, 2016.The full work will be published on the magazine “OPS” (Regional Observatory of prices in Sicily) and may therefore be used as a guide for prophessionals that are not experts in restoration and for small specialized companies that have no expertise in interventions on historical buildings.
