The analogies that Joyce established between Ulysses and the human body have proven very fruitful to his readers on various levels, both in terms of understanding its textual aspects and treatment of the book as a physical object. One hundred years after its publication, the life of Ulysses is not only still vibrant but also increasingly more complex due to new digital and interactive technologies, which allow movement across and experimentation with different platforms. This essay discusses the aspects of Ulysses that facilitate its (re-)circulation and intermedial transitions, considers issues regarding interpretation as manipulation, and proposes some reflections on the novel’s present and future re-incarnations.
