This essay explores a large corpus of texts encompassing the French versions of the Dante’s Comedy from the nineteenth century to the present, by focus- sing on the translation of the diatopic variation from Italian into French, more specifically on the case of the Bolognese affirmative particle «sipa» (Inf., XVIII). Four main translation strategies of Dante’s heterolingualism are identified: non- translation, suppression, intratextual translation, and oblique translation.
