The article proposes a model, to be used for research on the manufacture of bells, which has been elaborated by means of a reanalysis of treatises together with excavation data related to this type production, for the purpose of increasing the information potential of the stratigraphical deposits and enabling us to interpret them correctly. The paradigm is elaborated like a Harris diagram, corresponding in effect to something between the historical micro-sequences proposed by the treatises and the stratigraphical micro-sequences of the actual deposits, which illustrate what the excavator should find. The Author then presents a diagram showing how to recognise and catalogue the manufacturing structures. In conclusion, the Author analyses all of the elements related to the stratigraphical deposit which could help in the reconstruction of the manufacturing process and increase its archaeological visibility (archaeological context, state of preservation, examination of finds present in the deposits, observation of the finished product).
