The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the most common human virus, implicated in the pathogenesis of several human tumors, particularly B-cell lymphomas. EBV-induced lymphoproliferative disorders are the result of the outgrowth of EBV-infected B cells that would normal ly be controlled by an effective EBV-specific cytotoxic T-cell response. The association between EBV and follicular lymphoma (FL) is not well recognized and only ten cases have been previously described.

Abstract

The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the most common human virus, implicated in the pathogenesis of several human tumors, particularly B-cell lymphomas. EBV-induced lymphoproliferative disorders are the result of the outgrowth of EBV-infected B cells that would normal ly be controlled by an effective EBV-specific cytotoxic T-cell response. The association between EBV and follicular lymphoma (FL) is not well recognized and only ten cases have been previously described.
