Sulla via del teatro. Studi in onore di Matteo Palumbo

Il confronto con l’arte drammaturgica rappresenta un momento chiave nella crescita di ogni scrittore. E non è raro che un autore scopra se stesso proprio sulla via del teatro. I quattordici saggi raccolti in questo fascicolo monografico, omaggio a Matteo Palumbo, professore di Letteratura italiana a Napoli e membro del Comitato scientifico della «Rivista di letteratura teatrale», vogliono analizzare autori e momenti particolari nella storia del rapporto fra romanzo, letteratura e teatro. Partendo dall’Otello di Shakespeare e dall’opera di Giambattista Basile, essi si concentrano soprattutto sulla fine dell’Ottocento e sul Novecento, attraverso lo studio di varie opere di Svevo, Pirandello e Primo Levi. Infine Carmelo Bene, che, nel Pinocchio di Collodi, tenta di misurare la tenuta del teatro di fronte alla parola, all’identità nazionale, all’idea di personaggio da interpretare. The confrontation with the art of drama is a key moment in the growth of every writer. And it is not uncommon for an author to discover himself precisely on the path of the theatre. The fourteen essays collected in this monographic issue, a tribute to Matteo Palumbo, Professor of Italian Literature in Naples and member of the Scientific Committee of the "Rivista di letteratura teatrale", aim to analyse authors and particular moments in the history of the relationship between novel, literature and theatre. Starting with Shakespeare's Othello and the work of Giambattista Basile, they focus mainly on the late 19th and 20th centuries, through the study of various works by Svevo, Pirandello and Primo Levi. Finally, Carmelo Bene, who, in Collodi's Pinocchio, attempts to measure the resilience of theatre in the face of the word, national identity and the idea of the character to be played.
