The essay reconstructs the facts relating to the Dayton Agreements (1995) which officially marked the end of the wars in the Balkans, but the situation of political fragmentation and ethnic hatred deriving from the conflict continued to be present in the social context. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, school policy is the result of the hatred that flared up during the years of conflict. Before the war, Bosnia and Herzegovina was a multicultural territory, where Muslim, Serb and Croatian communities coexisted peacefully. "Two schools under the same roof" is the title of a project born after the war, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This model involves the separation of students on ethnic and religious grounds. The essay describes the processes of maintaining and overcoming the "two schools under the same roof" model and reflects on the construction of multicultural contexts from a scholastic and educational point of view.

Since 1995, Bosnia has represented a case of pacification achieved through international diplomacy, but which resulted in a division of internal borders.
