According to the objectives set by the 2030 Agenda, the role of museums in education, training and growth of skills is unique. The museum expertise can provide an essential contribution in the construction of a new global cultural identity. The Museum System of the University of Florence is part of this global challenge with the creation of a new set-up for the litho-mineralogical collections, with a project that is aimed at the development of those skills and knowledge in the geo-mineralogical field that will be necessary part of the cultural background of the citizens of the future. The exhibition will also take into account the changes in communication and exhibition criteria resulting from digitization and virtualization, but without overshadowing the unique characteristics linked to the peculiarity of the objects on display (minerals) and the peculiar historical and scientific context, the “La Specola” Museum, in which the itinerary is located
