The paper is a secondary analysis of the BLOSSoM study, which assessed the knowledge and impact of perinatal loss care on Italian midwives. The paper focuses on four areas of clinical management: bereavement care, pharmacological management and aftercare, post-mortem procedures and rituals, and fetal movements pattern. The paper shows that Italian midwives have a poor knowledge of these areas and suggests the adoption of national guidelines and specific training courses to improve perinatal bereavement care. The paper also highlights regional differences and factors influencing the knowledge of guidelines.

Abstract
The paper is a secondary analysis of the BLOSSoM study, which assessed the knowledge and impact of perinatal loss care on Italian midwives. The paper focuses on four areas of clinical management: bereavement care, pharmacological management and aftercare, post-mortem procedures and rituals, and fetal movements pattern. The paper shows that Italian midwives have a poor knowledge of these areas and suggests the adoption of national guidelines and specific training courses to improve perinatal bereavement care. The paper also highlights regional differences and factors influencing the knowledge of guidelines.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
