The Armenian polymath Grigor Pahlawuni Magistros (ca. 990-1058) is known for his large use of allusions and references to Greek mythology, literature, and philosophy. However, he also had familiarity with Persian or more generally Iranian culture, as evidenced by a (rather small, indeed) number of scholars. This contributions analyses the way in which Grigor Magistros put his Greek and Iranian cultural references in dialogue, while also dealing with some distinct Persian words used by Grigor.
