“Ebbrezza dialettica”. Figure della coscienza

In the first paragraph I point out the aporias immanent to a purely naturalistic conception of consciousness, defending its noumenal character in a Kantian spirit. In the second paragraph I address Nietzsche’s attempt at a radical naturalization of consciousness, in particular in aphorism 119 of Aurora and in aphorisms 11 and 354 of The Gay Science. Here I dwell in particular on the Nietzschean definition of consciousness as the last and most incomplete development of the organic. Showing the limits and internal contradictions of Nietzsche’s conception of consciousness, in the third paragraph I deal with two figures of perfection of consciousness: the one given by the experience of awakening (through a passage taken from Robert Calasso’s book on Kafka) and the one implied in self-consciousness as “absolute knowledge” which constitutes the conclusion of Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit
