La prevenzione dell’errore nella valutazione grafologico-forense tra ricerca, epistemologia e prassi

Il fermento di studi e ricerche scientifiche che in vari anni si è moltiplicato intorno alla grafologia costituisce una testimonianza significativa del rilievo che questa disciplina può rivestire, specie nella prassi forense e in ambito criminologico, con notevoli impatti nella vita delle persone. Tali iniziative attestano anche al tempo stesso un impegno diffuso verso l’acquisizione di uno status scientifico delle sue conoscenze e applicazioni, rendendola maggiormente affidabile e credibile anche agli occhi delle persone che si rivolgono all’esperto in campo grafologico. In questo contributo vengono affrontati sinteticamente alcuni importanti temi che la ricerca scientifica sta approfondendo anche in relazione alla prassi consulenziale del grafologo forense, per ridurre le possibilità di errore valutativo in cui si può incorrere nell’accertamento dell’autenticità di firme e di testi manoscritti o nella identificazione dell’artefice di testi anonimi. L’obiettivo degli autori è di stimolare una riflessione e un confronto sulle direttrici metodologiche ed epistemologiche che l’analisi della letteratura suggerisce. The ferment of scientific studies and research that has multiplied around graphology over the years is in itself evidence of the importance that this discipline can play, especially in forensic practice and criminology, with significant impacts on people's lives. At the same time, it is evidence of a widespread commitment towards the acquisition of a scientific status of the discipline and its applications, making it more reliable and credible also in the eyes of people who turn to the expert in graphology. This contribution briefly addresses some important issues that scientific research is investigating also in relation to the consulting practice of the forensic graphologist in order to reduce the possibility of evaluative errors which may occur in ascertaining the authenticity of signatures and handwritten texts, or in the identification of the author of anonymous texts. The aim of the authors is to stimulate a reflection and a comparison on the methodological and epistemological guidelines that the analysis of the literature suggests.
