Leonardo da Vinci’s ambitious project of Arno’s navigable canal strengthened the polycentric system of the plain between Florence and Pistoia, enhancing ecosystems in a multifunctional key. On the other hand, in the mid twentieth century the equipped axis between Florence and Prato follows the waterway route but, contrary to Leonardo’s vision, relates to territories in a purely functionalist perspective. This article tries a comparison between such opposite visions of territorial project.

Abstract
Leonardo da Vinci’s ambitious project of Arno’s navigable canal strengthened the polycentric system of the plain between Florence and Pistoia, enhancing ecosystems in a multifunctional key. On the other hand, in the mid twentieth century the equipped axis between Florence and Prato follows the waterway route but, contrary to Leonardo’s vision, relates to territories in a purely functionalist perspective. This article tries a comparison between such opposite visions of territorial project.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
