Abstract

Adopting Late Antique aesthetics, characterized by brilliance, dazzle and colors, in the fourth and fifth century Christians created a new form of imagination, where the bodies of the martyrs and their physical remains became a shining body. Relics became a spiritual body, whose μετάληψις often flowed into roses or violets. In such a way, roses, red and relics were strictly associated in Late Christianity.
