Il grandƏ inquisitorƏ. Per una critica delle politiche identitarie

Focusing on Foucault’s work on sexuality, the article retraces the theoretical and historical roots of identity politics and criticizes its normative and disciplinary outcomes. In particular, the first part reconstructs through a careful genealogy how Western culture has begun to question sex by means of the Christian confession. The second shows how the so-called scientia sexualis has deepened the interest in sex by pushing each individual to believe that sex holds the deepest truth of the subject. The last part warns against the dangers of any identity politics that, confusing the freedom to be different with the mandatory need to identify it, make this very "difference" subjugated and ineffective.
