This database is equally the work of archaeologists and of scientists involved in ongoing archaeometric research at Siena University's Earth Sciences Department. We believe that an integrated database must satisfy three main requirements: a) integration of queries, b) a user-friendly interface, c) wide accessibility. The integration of queries implies archiving all available documentation, both of humanistic and scientific interest. A user-friendly interface allows a wide range of users to input or consult data. Accessibility is guaranteed by a network of widely-available commercial software. Our database is developed in Access [Microsoft] and ArcView [Esri], two common, relatively inexpensive and widely compatible software packages. Our main objective is the development of a database that can be used by archaeologists for significant historical reconstructions and by scientists for obtaining reference analytical data sets.

Abstract
Our main objective is the development of a database that can be used by archaeologists for significant historical reconstructions and by scientists for obtaining reference analytical data sets.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
