L’estrema destra in Veneto. Un’analisi multilivello

The evaluation of the success of the extreme right depends on the performance of parties, movements, and the interactions of these in the political-institutional scene and the broader public and cultural sphere. To this already complex scenario one must add the analysis of local variables. Studies on political culture show how the persistence of historical-political traditions is reflected, albeit many decades later, in the forms that contemporary political mobilisations take. The article aims to provide a reading of the main actors of the extreme right in the Veneto region on three levels. At a first level, it presents the state of the art of the parties, emphasising the complex interactions between the formations of the traditional extreme right and right-wing populism. At a second level, it focuses on the main extreme-right movements in their forms of expression on a political and cultural level. A third level of analysis highlights how the interactions between the multiple far-right actors in the region find expression in political mobilisation on the ground and online.
