A new paradigm for the shallow buried targets detection is introduced in the project "Demining Robots". Metal and plastic case landmines can be reliably detected by the combination of metal detector and microwave radars. A dedicated robotic scanner works in cooperation with other robotic platform for data fusion. This work presents the outcomes of the robotic platform equipped with a lightweight and compact antenna mounted on a fast mechanical scanning system and the spatially correlated optical and radar images of the soil relief to have a superior data interpretation capability and high volumes of data collection for using AI. Finally, thanks to this new paradigm the operator safety is ensured by the fully remote operability.
