Over recent decades considerable scholarly attention has been given to reconfigurings of the world through, for example, the experience of travel, colonial expansion and the development of maps. Yet, we still lack a detailed understanding of how the peoples of early modern Europe gained their knowledge of the world. This special issue of the Journal of Early Modern Studies seeks to explore the complexities of the concept of cosmography in the early modern period proposing to enlarge and clarify our understanding of this ambitious project (which comprised a variety of different disciplines) by tracing its European networks.

Abstract
Over recent decades considerable scholarly attention has been given to reconfigurings of the world through, for example, the experience of travel, colonial expansion and the development of maps. Yet, we still lack a detailed understanding of how the peoples of early modern Europe gained their knowledge of the world. This special issue of the Journal of Early Modern Studies seeks to explore the complexities of the concept of cosmography in the early modern period proposing to enlarge and clarify our understanding of this ambitious project (which comprised a variety of different disciplines) by tracing its European networks.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
