Publishing silences: The case of Audre Lorde · The voice of a gen- eration of women who see the struggle for gender rights being stifled by the struggle for race rights, Audre Lorde’s thought – well known in the United States and Germany in the 1970s and 1980s – did not find an immedi- ate editorial response in Italy. It was only in the 2000s, thanks at first to some translations made for the Bollettina del Collegamento Lesbiche Ita- liane (Italian Lesbian Connection), that Lorde aroused a growing interest in the academic community of Italian gender studies, however, highlight- ing the delay in the reception and thus publication of her works in trans- lation.
