This ancient manuscript of historical importance is here studied, placed from a temporal point of view and transcribed. The collection locations were georeferenced and the geographical survey area precisely identified; the sites are mainly concentrated at the foot of Mt. Rondinaio and in other locations in the Lucca Apennines, but there are also collection sites in the Apuan Alps, in the Pistoia and in the Modena Apennines. The names of the plants have been updated from the nomenclatural point of view, also carrying out investigations and checks of the original material for a certain number of problematic or phytogeographical-interesting plants in the Herbarium Centrale Italicum of Florence (FI), where the samples of Giannini are scattered in the general herbarium and therefore not identifiable automatically. In total, the number of species that Giannini presents in the manuscript is 399, divided into 210 genera and 64 families. After the nomenclatural revision and herbarium checks, the total number of species listed by Giannini decreased to 394. Of these, about half (198) have had a nomenclatural update. The total number of genera has also undergone changes, in this case increasing to the current 239.
