The aim of this paper is to show the capabilities of a W- band radar in the dynamic monitoring of bridges. Differ- ently from the current reference technology, represented by the Ku-band radars, the small size and weight of W-band radars make them attractive for this kind of applications. The same bridge was simultaneously monitored by both the W-band and Ku-band radars, and the comparison between the analyzed data showed an agreement of about 0.1 mm. As a further test, a second bridge was dynamically moni- tored by means of the stand-alone W-band radar.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show the capabilities of a W- band radar in the dynamic monitoring of bridges. Differ- ently from the current reference technology, represented by the Ku-band radars, the small size and weight of W-band radars make them attractive for this kind of applications. The same bridge was simultaneously monitored by both the W-band and Ku-band radars, and the comparison between the analyzed data showed an agreement of about 0.1 mm. As a further test, a second bridge was dynamically moni- tored by means of the stand-alone W-band radar.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
