Percorsi correttòri dal Fermo e Lucia alla Quarantana: l’esempio dei proverbi glossati

This paper aims to analyse, in the context of Manzoni’s study on language and phraseology, the interest of the Author in proverbs, as shown particularly by volumes that he annotated and by his linguistic writings. Focusing on proverbs declared and accompanied by a gloss in the drafts and editions of the novel, the linguistic corrections occurred on them are retraced, from Fermo e Lucia to the Promessi sposi’s final edition.
