Rileggendo De Dominici. Ritrovamenti e precisazioni per una storia della pala d’altare nel Rinascimento meridionale

A new reading of the Vite by Bernardo De Dominici – the most important art-historical source for the Neapolitan Art recently republished in a critical edition –, made possible to identify some Neapolitan altarpiece described by the biographer but that were still missing. Thanks to De Dominici, the research aims to find the ancient provenance of those altarpieces, generally decontextualized or dismembered, and to suggest some few consideration about their painter, iconography, typology or patronage.
