Tourism sustainability in news media data

Tourism is a key driver of countries’ economic development, impacting local socio-economic factors significantly. To ensure sustainable growth, competitiveness in tourism must be strengthened. However, the increasing focus on tourism sustainability needs to have shared definitions and measurements in the current literature. Utilising news media data, this work employs community detection algorithms for topic discovery in tourism sustainability articles. This work aims to extract information from unstructured data and provide insights into the cultural context of how the concept is understood and represented.
