This short paper discusses the encounter and interaction of two non-homogeneous populations who profit, with different objectives, a good common tourist. We introduce a definition of sustainable tourism that emphasizes the fact that the durability of good tourism depends on the behavior of these two populations. This definition, although seemingly trivial, shows the underlying rationale behind the behavior of individuals even when it is contrary to the so called welfare. The search for a greater benefit from the exploitation of good tourism can lead to the disappearance of the same in the absence of public policies aimed at their preservation. The tragedy of the commons is precisely the tragedy of tourism which it has enjoyed public goods.
