The article aims at analysing Harold Laski’s legal thought. Commonly divided into three phases — pluralism, gradualism and Marxism— his reflection does indeed experience significant evolutions and changes. However, when considered as a whole, these phases of thought do not preclude a substantial uniformity of his legal theory, thereby highlighting the overall objective of balancing freedom and authority, liberty and equality.

Abstract

The article aims at analysing Harold Laski’s legal thought. Commonly divided into three phases — pluralism, gradualism and Marxism— his reflection does indeed experience significant evolutions and changes. However, when considered as a whole, these phases of thought do not preclude a substantial uniformity of his legal theory, thereby highlighting the overall objective of balancing freedom and authority, liberty and equality.
