In this paper a series of analyses aimed at assessing the performance degradation of an open TEM cell operating in presence of the ground and of neighbouring objects is performed. Results show that, despite the scattering parameters being only slightly modified, the field uniformity deteriorates, and this may lead to the violation of the field requirements. In particular, the field uniformity deteriorates less when the neighboring objects are placed close to the port being fed.

Abstract

In this paper a series of analyses aimed at assessing the performance degradation of an open TEM cell operating in presence of the ground and of neighbouring objects is performed. Results show that, despite the scattering parameters being only slightly modified, the field uniformity deteriorates, and this may lead to the violation of the field requirements. In particular, the field uniformity deteriorates less when the neighboring objects are placed close to the port being fed.
