The space mapping algorithm is applied here to the design of patch antennas considering the cavity model as the coarse model. The simple cavity model adopted here does not take into account the feed position, yet when applied in the space mapping method, it is effective in tuning the patch antenna. The feed position is then optimized separately, directly evaluating the fine full-wave model. The framework is applied to patch antennas with a multilobate contour.
