A superelliptical quadrature hybrid directional coupler at 5.8 GHz is designed and tested. The substrate is FR408 with a thickness of 1.57 mm. The size of the coupler is 15.932 mm x 12.038 mm (0.54 λ x 0.41 λ). At the design frequency, the return loss and the isolation are 17.1 dB and 20.7 dB, respectively, while the amplitude and phase imbalances are 0.1 dB and 4.2◦, respectively.
