The aim of this paper is to enrich the APER model [1] with phenomenological concepts. I will focus on the following issues: definition of ‘affect’ (contrasting this term with the more phenomenological ‘emotion’), the functions of affects/emotions and especially their semiotic function, and their rootedness in sensory-motor patterns.
