The paper explores Leonardo da Vinci’s military architecture in Piombino, integrating digital documentation and historical sources. The Madrid Codices and the designs for the defenses of Piombino are analyzed, examining sketches and texts. The methodology integrates digital surveys and the study of manuscript pages, interpreting details and comparing them with current structures. The research reveals the complexity of the designs and their relationship with the actual fortifications. Three-dimensional modeling will allow these findings to be disseminated to a non- specialized audience as well.
