The San Lorenzo complex in Florence, pivotal in the Florentine Renaissance and supported by the Medici, has been studied by the University of Florence, which used digital survey techniques to create a three-dimensional architectural database. The project, started in 2020, aims to better understand Renaissance architecture through the digital documentation of elements such as Brunelleschi’s Old Sacristy. Utilizing advanced technologies, like laser scanning and photogrammetry, the team has produced detailed models of the complex, including exteriors and interiors, facilitating architectural studies and the conservation of the site. Utilizing advanced technologies, like laser scanning and photogrammetry, the team has produced detailed models of the complex, including exteriors and interiors, facilitating architectural studies and the conservation of the site.
