This essay analyses the current legal framework and its impact on the relationship between bank customers and their deposited funds regarding technological advancements. This analysis aims to examine the consequences of regulatory intervention in preventing bank runs and provide initial insights into a complex issue that poses a challenge to most regulatory systems, considering, for example, the Silicon Valley Bank case. The findings of this analysis indicate that if the economic assessment is valid, the solutions can be implemented in other financial systems beyond the United States. This will necessitate the development of a regulatory framework that aligns with the emerging trends in credit intermediation, which no longer rely on deposit stability as a given.
