The extension of Assisi has incorporated long stretches of the town walls, making them sometimes imperceptible. No less important were the changes that affected the Major and Minor fortresses. In the 20th century, there were many reconstructions of the walls. Precious is the contribution that, with the literature on the subject, the historical iconography can provide for a preliminary re-knowledge of the persistent features and transformations that over time have involved the walls of Assisi.
